OPEN DAYS RNLAF 2011
News >>

For the demo team, this was our last weekend of this demo season for 2011 also for 4 of our team members this was their last weekend with the team. It was an extremely busy weekend since there were 2 shows, in Leeuwarden but also the 35th edition of the Sanicole airshow in Belgium. For this reason, the team was offered special air transportation so all team members could be ferried in time towards the various shows. The non-flying team members could experience some air and stick time.

For the team the Thursday started with some training in Sanicole followed by a training at Leeuwarden.
Friday was the first day of the luchtmachtdagen with beautiful weather followed by the Sunset show in Belgium where the light was once again a lot less than last year. This provided of course beautiful pictures moments of the flares the during the loops.

Saturday morning, the team was not able to sleep for a long period but had to once again get up early to be present on the second day at Leeuwarden.
Again a super beautiful show with lots of visitors at the stand of the team.

Throughout the weekend we also had lots of visits from the press for example the Leeuwarder courant, jeugdjournaal, the different Prize winners and a telephone interview from "Evers in the morning" of radio 538.
In the VIP tent the Hawk was offered to the Commander Air forces: General Janssen and the Director Operations: Cdre Mulder both were very pleased with the gift.

Unfortunately we could not enjoy the after party in Leeuwarden because we had to go back to Belgium to prepare for the Sunday show at Sanicole. Also this was a fantastic show with an additional formation of 2 A-109's a Seaking of the Belgians along with our Hawk.

After all the mileage, shows and press chats we could finally relax at the end of the day with a BBQ along with all the teams who were present at Sanicole.

During the demo season we got to know many of the teams present and many tokens crossed hands as tokens of appreciation.
The Belgian F-16 pilot Mitch will stop being a demo pilot after 3 years, because of that he received a standing ovation to thank him for his efforts.
A super ending of our super season!
