The Apache Solo Display Team won the prize for the best overall helicopter flying display during the major aviation event at the Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton in the United Kingdom last Saturday.
"We are of course very proud that we have received this award. We have trained hard for this and then this is a nice reward, "said co-pilot Captain Paul ' Wokkel ' Webbink.
The Commander of 301 squadron, Lieutenant Colonel Gilliam Bresser congratulated the crew of the demo-Apache upon their return at Gilze-Rijen.
The last time the Apache Solo Display Team won a price was in 2005. They received two prices during the Fairford air show
After the 2005 season the team did not fly any displays because of the operational obligations they had due to the operational deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Since 2010 the team is back.

"We zijn natuurlijk best trots dat we deze prijs hebben gekregen. We hebben er hard voor getraind en dan is dit een mooie beloning", verklaarde co-piloot kapitein Paul 'Wokkel' Webbink. De commandant van 301 squadron, luitenant-kolonel Gilliam Bresser feliciteerde de bemanning van de demo-Apache bij terugkomst op thuisbasis Gilze-Rijen.
De laatste keer dat het Apache Solo Display Team in de prijzen viel was in 2005. Het team kon toen maar liefst 2 prijzen in ontvangst nemen tijdens een vliegshow in Fairford, eveneens in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Na dat seizoen vloog het team tot 2009 geen shows in verband met de operationele inzet in Irak en Afghanistan. Sinds 2010 is het team weer terug van geweest.
